Fall is here and we are ready for the latest beauty trends. Time to shed the yoga pants and oversized t-shirts for a more fashionable look. The fall/winter shows of New York’s fashion week brought us new ideas and inspiration, much to the delight of fashionistas in New York and beyond. Which of the NYC runway trends can we expect to see on the streets of Los Angeles this fall? 

Shiny Sci-Fi
Vogue says: “This season, the runways helped us wrap our heads around what fashion and beauty might look like in a post-vaccine world.”  Almost every major fashion designer responded to the pandemic the same way: lots and lots and lots of shine.

Vogue quotes “The Sci-Fi Metallics” as the top trend, crediting Ferragamo’s sci-fi-inspired show with kicking off this look. Look for metallic eyeshadow, crystal-studded mouths, and shiny monochromatic outfits. Don’t be drab – let your inner intergalactic fashionista shine. 

The Return of Makeup: Full Lash Ahead 

Harper’s Bazaar brings us fall makeup looks “beyond the mask.” These looks include:

• The kitten eye: The full cat-eye is a classic, but celebs like Sydney Sweeney have also been wearing a smaller flick—hence the “kitten eye”—as of late.

• Luscious lashes: Ultra-long lashes maintained their popularity as face masks shifted the focus to the eyes. Expect the trend to continue: whether you use mascara, a serum, or any number of magnetic options available – there is nothing like full, long lashes to make a statement. 

• The Return of Lipstick: as we prepare to show our mouths to the world again, we expect lipstick, gloss, balms, tints, colors—it’s all going to pop!

Luxe Comfort

• Cutouts: We’ve already been noting how the cutouts trend is taking hold, but given the recent fall/winter collections at Fashion Week, the eye-catching silhouettes aren’t going anywhere. Show a bit of skin with a fun cutout top. 

• Cable-knit: no longer just for sweaters! From dresses to matching sets, if you’re covered in cables, you’re doing something right. Does glam get any comfier than this? 

• Faux fur: designers are proposing a luxe vision of comfort with directional takes on faux fur. You’ll find chunky coats and jackets in a range of colors—from tawny brown to arctic white, but you’ll also find pieces like tube tops and heels that put a whole new spin on how to wear furry clothing.

• Cloud coats: move over puffer coat, your lighter, slimmer cousin the “cloud coat” is here for winter!  Cloud coats are the outerwear trend to know about for the upcoming season. These pieces are so puffy and cloudlike that you probably won’t want to take them off.
